This shrub has a slender spreading woody stems that form a compact mounded habit. It has narrow hairy grey green linear leaves and the red-pink tube-shaped flowers appear sparsely in a small raceme from late winter to late spring.

Grevillea sparsiflorais naturally found in south-east Western Australia from Mt. Ragged to Israelite east of Esperance growing on the coastal sand dunes or limestone cliffs and in eucalypt woodlands with a hot dry summer the cool moist winter.

It prefers an open to exposed sunny position and grows in very well drained poor to moderately fertile sandy-stony soil with a limestone base that is tending alkaline. This shrub is drought, salt spray and frost tolerant and regenerates from seed after low intensity fire.

The Sparse Flowered Grevillea is grown for spreading habit and it is attractive foliage. It is planted in small or native gardens as a ground cover spill-over above retaining walls. It is also grown in patio pots and planter boxes or used in roof gardens.

It is suitable to coastal and inland regions preferring a Mediterranean climate and establishes in 3-4 years and is long-lived. It is ideal for a coastal garden and is used in rockeries or on embankments but may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery. ID 3821
