This shrub has a short woody stem with intricate spreading branches that formed a bushy habit. It has small mid-green star-shaped prickly leaves and the red tube-shaped flowers appear in a terminal cluster from winter to spring.

Grevillea asteriscosais naturally found in south-west Western Australia in the Avon wheatbelt east of Bullaring growing in heath or shrubland and amongst small to large trees. It is commonly associated with granite outcrops that appear on small rises with a hot dry summer and a cool wet winter.

It prefers an open sunny position and grows in very well-drained, moist to dry moderately fertile sandy-stony soil that is tending acidic. It is drought and frost tolerant.

The Star-leaf Grevillea is grown for its flowers and attractive foliage. It is planted along garden borders as a low screen or as a bird sanctuary and is used as a pedestrian barrier in public places. It is suitable for coastal and inland regions preferring a Mediterranean climate and establishes in 2-3 years. It is not commonly cultivated and maybe difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery. ID 3817
