Eucalyptus pachyphyllais naturally found in Australia from inland Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland and growing on sand plains and dunes and extending to the stony hillsides.

It prefers an open sunny wind protected position and grows in poor to moderately fertile red sandy stony soil that is tending acidic and is drought and frost tolerant.

The Thick-leaved Mallee is grown for its flowers and its attractive bark. It is planted in parks and small gardens as a specimen or used in arid settings. It is also planted along borders for attracting birds and is ideal for a Mediterranean climate.

It is suitable for inland regions but will tolerate the drier coastal positions and establishes in 3-5 years. It can also be grown in large tubs or planter boxes but is not commonly cultivated and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery. ID 3792
