This lignotuberous shrub has a short woody stem and spreading branches that form a low compact bushy habit. It has variable dark green lobed leaves and the red to pink pendant tube-shaped flowers appear in a terminal raceme from autumn to spring.

Grevillea thelemannianais naturally found in southwest Western Australia growing in the Cannington Wattle Grove and Kenwick regions near Perth, in and around heathland swamps and in woodlands.

It prefers an open to expose sunny to semi-shade position and grows in well-drained moist gray sandy to clay loam with a pH range from 5.5 - 8.5. It prefers a Mediterranean climate with a hot dry summer and a cool moist winter, regenerating after fire from the lignotuber and is drought and light frost tolerant.

The Spider Net Grevillea is grown for its spreading habit and its long flowering period. It is planted in small or native gardens as a specimen for attracting birds or used as a ground cover. It is also planted in commercial landscapes requiring little care once established and to be used as a spill-over above retaining walls. It is suitable for coastal and inland regions and establishes in 2-4 years and is long-lived.
