This coniferous tree has a smooth ash-grey bark that becomes fissured with age and ascending branches that form a narrow pyramid habit. it has upright glossy bright green needle-like leaves and produces red-brown female cones.

Abies cilicicais naturally found from southeast Turkey to north Syria and extending to northern Lebanon in the Antitaurus Mountains at an altitude from 1,000 m to 2,100 m (6,889 ft). It prefers an open sunny to partially shaded position and grows in most well-drained moderately fertile sandy-stony to clay soils with a pH 6-7.5 and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
Cilician Fir Is grown for its foliage and its conical habit. It is planted in parks and botanical collections as a specimen or used as a bonsai subject.
