This rhizomatous perennial has spreading stems with arching foliage and forms a clump. It has fleshy glossy dark green long lanced-shaped leaves and the small white saucer-shaped flowers appear in a terminal cluster from late spring to early summer.

It prefers a semi shaded to sunny wind protected position and grows in well drained organic rich moist soil that is tending acidic, with a pH 6.8 and is drought and frost tender.
Cola de Paloma is grown for its spreading growth habit and its flowers. It is planted in small or tropical gardens along low borders or mass planted as an understory amongst shrubs and trees. It is also planted around water features or grown in patio pots and planter boxes and in cold regions it is grown in bright conservatories.
