This herbaceous perennial to sub-shrub has upright woody pubescent branched stems that form a narrow bushy habit. It has grey green lobed leaves and the orange to lavender cup-shaped flowers appear in a cluster above the foliage from spring to autumn.

It prefers an open sunny position and grows in very well-drained moderately fertile sandy stony soils with a pH 5.5-6.5 and is frost and drought tolerant.
Fendler's Globemallow is grown for its flowers and its bushy habit. It is planted along the garden borders or used in arid gardens as a specimen and is grown in large containers. It is suitable for inland regions and establishes in 1-2 years but may be short lived.
