This cormous perennial has upright to lax mid-green narrow lance-shaped leaves and forms a clump. The lavender pink to violence bell-shaped flowers appear in a terminal cluster high above the foliage from late spring to early summer.

It prefers an open a sunny position and it grows in well-drained moderately fertile sandy to stony clay soils and is frost and drought tolerant.
