This deciduous shrub has a short trunk with spreading branches that form a compact rounded crown. It has mid-green rounded leaves that turn yellow in autumn and the yellow centred flowers appear with white bracts in a cluster during spring.

Parrotiopsis jacquemontianais naturally found in the western Himalayas growing on hillsides in Kashmir, Murree, Hazara and Kurram at an altitude from 1200 m to 2800 m (9186 ft).

It prefers an open sunny to semi-shaded position and grows in a deep well-drained fertile moist lime free soil and is frost tolerant but drought tender.

This shrub to small tree is grown for its attractive flowers and bushy habit. It is planted in parks and gardens along borders for screening or used as a lawn specimen. It is suitable for coastal and low-mountain regions and establishes in 3-5 years and is moderately long lived. It is also planted in tubs and planter boxes and is found in botanical collections.
