This rhizomatous semi-evergreen perennial has slender stems and leaves from the base that form a clump. It has a grey-green rounded lobed leaves and the cup-shaped pale pink flowers appear in a small cluster from spring to summer.

Geranium cinereumis naturally found in the Pyrenees growing in woodland margins and in rocky places on the coast and in the mountains at an altitude from 800 to 2200 m (6,700 ft).

It prefers a semi-shaded to open the sunny position and grows in well-drained (not wet) fertile sandy to light clay soils with a pH 5.6-8 and is frost, drought, pollution and humidity tolerant.

Ashy Cranesbill is grown for its flowers and spreading habit. It is planted in rockeries or along front borderers in small gardens and planted in roof gardens. It is suitable for coastal and mountainous regions establishing in 2-3 years but may be short lived. This perennial is also grown in patio pots and planter boxes and used in courtyard gardens.
