This rhizomatous perennial has upright hairy branched stems with basal leaves and forms a clump. The divided dark green toothed leaves have a large apical leaflet and the red to yellow saucer-shaped flowers appear in a cluster during late spring.

Geum quellyonis naturally found in central Chile growing in the mountains to an altitude of 2,600 m (8,000 ft). It prefers an open sunny to partially shaded wind protected position and grows in a well-drained organic rich, moist soil that is tending acidic with a pH 6-7.5 and is frost and mildly drought tolerant.
Grecian Rose is grown for its flowers and clumping habit. It is planted in small alpine or cottage gardens along borders and used for bedding displays. It is suitable for coastal and low-mountain regions establishing in 2-3 years but may be short lived.
