This clump forming herbaceous perennial has upright branched stems that form a bushy habit. It has dark green heart-shaped toothed leaves and the lilac-white wheel-shaped flowers appear in a small cluster from late spring to early summer.

Lunaria redivivais naturally found throughout Europe to western Siberia growing in the understory of damp woodlands or on disturbed soil and in open fields, commonly on limestone-based soils.

It prefers a protected sunny to semi shaded position and it grows in well-drained, fertile moist soil with a pH range of 6.1 to 7.8. It is a frost and snow tolerant but drought tender and a self seeds under ideal conditions.

Perennial Honesty is grown for its fragrant flowers and its attractive foliage. It is planted in small or cottage gardens along perennial borders or mass planted forward bedding displays in parks and large gardens. It also naturalises in the understory of woodland settings or can be grown in patio pots and planter boxes.

It is suitable coastal and inland regions and establishes in one season but may be short lived. The seed pods are used in dried flower arrangements and the plant is easily cultivated. ID 3557
