This sub-shrub has multiple woody stems with spreading branches that form a compact low rounded habit. It has dark green spoon-shaped leaves and the pinkish white cup-shaped flowers appear in a dense raceme from late spring to early summer.

Iberis sempervirensis naturally found in southern Europe (Spain) growing in woodland margins and on cliffs and rocky outcrops along coastal margins, normally on calcareous based soils.

It prefers an open sunny position but will tolerate some shade and grows in well-drained poor to moderately fertile moist to dry soil that is neutral tending alkaline. it is frost and drought tolerant and is resistant to deer and rabbits.

Candytuff is grown for its spreading habit and its flowers. It is planted in small or cottage gardens along front borders as an edging plant or used in sunny rockeries. It has also grown as a spill-over above retaining walls or mass planted on embankments as a ground cover.
