This herbaceous perennial as thick tuberous roots with upright reddish branched stems that form a clump. It has divided mid green leaves with lance-shaped leaflets and the bowl-shaped deep pink flowers appear from mid to late spring.

Paeonia cambessedesiiis naturally found in the Balearic Islands of the Mediterranean, particularly in Majorca where it grows in exposed sites on rocky cliffs from sea level to low altitudes.
It prefers an open sunny to semi-shaded position and grows in very well-drained fertile, organic rich sandy stony soils that are tending alkaline with a pH 7-8.5 and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
The Majorcan Peony is grown for its flowers and clumping habit. This planted in small or cottage gardens along front borders or in rockeries and used as a container specimen.
