It prefers a semi-shaded protected position and grows in well-drained organic rich moist sandy to clay loam that is tending neutral with a pH range of 6.2 to 7.0. It will tolerate drier conditions when dormant and limestone-based soils and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
Ogisu's Fairy Wings is grown for its dense mounded habit with burgundy new growth and its sprays of delicate white flowers. It is planted along shaded garden borders or used as a specimen in rockeries. It has also grown in moist gully plantings and can be mass planted as a ground cover.
It is suitable for inland and low-mountain regions and establishes in 3-4 years and is long lived. This spreading perennial is used in planter boxes or as a spill-over above retaining walls and in the understory of deciduous woodlands. ID 3482
