This rhizomatous perennial has upright stems that form a low mounded clumping habit. It has dark green oblong pointed leaves and the yellow pendant tube-shape flowers repeatedly bloom in a small terminal cluster from spring to early summer.

Disporum flavensis naturally found in Korea growing in moist woodlands and forests from an altitude of 100 m to 2500 m (7,500 ft). It prefers a semi-shaded cool moist position and grows in well-drained organic rich fertile soils that are tending acidic with a pH 5 - 7 and is frost tolerant but drought tender.

Fairy Bells are grown for their flowers and clumping habit. It is planted along shaded borders in small gardens or parks and used as an understory in woodland settings as a ground cover. It establishes from division in 2-3 years and is a suitable inland or low-mountain regions.
