This deciduous tree has a greyish trunk with upright spreading branches that form a pyramidal habit when young and matures to a rounded crown. It has dark green oval leaves the turn orange-yellow in autumn and the white bell-shaped flowers appear in a cluster.

Sorbus alnifoliais naturally found in east-Asia from central China to Korea and Japan growing on the slopes and gullies amongst mixed forests and in thickets at an altitude of 500 m to 2300 m (7,000 ft).
It prefers an open sunny to partially shaded position and grows in most humus rich well-drained fertile soils with a pH from 5-7 and is frost and drought tolerant.
Korean Mountain Ash it is grown for its autumn foliage, flowers and colourful fruit. It is planted in parks and gardens as a lawn specimen or used in woodland settings for attracting birds. It is suitable for low-mountain and inland regions establishing in 3-5 years but may be short lived in the landscape due to insect attack.
It is also used in Japanese or temperate climate gardens for colour contrast and as the shade tree but is not suited to urban environments as it dislikes atmospheric pollution and high temperatures. ID 3455
