This non-invasive clump forming perennial has multiple upright squarish stems that form a bushy rounded habit. It has hairy dark green triangular-shaped toothed leaves and the pinkish orchid-like flowers appear in a spike from late spring to summer.

Lamium orvalais naturally found from central and southern Europe growing along forest margins and in moist woodlands or on rocky slopes from sea level to an altitude of 1,800 m (5,905 ft).
It prefers a shaded to semi-shaded wind protected position and grows in well-drained organic rich moist to slightly dry sandy to clay loam with a pH range from 4.5 to 8.5. It is frost and a slightly drought tolerant and under cold conditions it is herbaceous.
