This upright shrub has slightly hairy woody stems and forms a compact rounded bushy habit. It has narrow, dark green leathery leaves and the small mauve tube-shaped flowers appear singularly towards the end of the branches during summer.

Prostanthera phylicifoliais naturally found in Australia from southern Queensland to New South Wales and extending to Victoria growing on the coast and in the adjoining mountains, in heath and sclerophyll forests.

It prefers a well drained moderately fertile sandy soil that is tending acidic in a semi-shaded position that is protected from hot summer sun and is drought tender but frost tolerant.

Mintbush is grown on for its flowers and low bushy habit. It is planted in small or native gardens along borders or used in a shaded rockery. It is suitable for coastal and low-mountain regions establishing in 2-3 years and is commonly cultivated. The shrub may also be grown in large patio pots or planter boxes. ID 3384
