This deciduous vine has a slender woody twining stems that form a dense cover. The male and female plants have white to pinkish tipped heart-shaped leaves and the small white saucer-shaped flowers appear in early summer followed by edible fruit.

Actinidia kolomiktais naturally found from Japan to China, Korea and Russia growing in mixed forests on mountain sides and in the adjoining valleys at an altitude from 1600 m to 2,900 m (9,514 ft).

It prefers a semi-shade protected position in warm climates but will tolerate full sun in cooler regions and grows in most well drained fertile moist soils that are tending neutral with a pH 6-7.5. It is cold and frost tolerant but drought tender.

The Hardly Kiwi Fruit is planted in parks and gardens and trained over pagodas or lattice for screening and against walls. The female plant is commonly cultivated for its pale orange edible fruit. ID 3348
