Goodenia variais naturally found in Australia from New South Wales to Victoria and South Australia growing in grasslands and mallee communities to coastal limestone cliffs and associated dunes.
It prefers an open sunny position but will tolerate some shade and grows in well drained but moist, moderately fertile, sandy to clay soils that are tending acidic. It is drought and salt spray tolerant, but frost sensitive.
The Sticky Goodenia is grown for its spreading habit and flowers. It is planted in rockeries as a spill-over or used as a ground cover in small or native gardens and is suitable for the coastal or inland regions.
