Eucalyptus youngianais naturally found from central Western Australia and South Australia growing in arid and semi-arid regions on undulating plains. It prefers very well drained moderately fertile, red sand or sandy soli in an open to exposed sunny position and is drought and light frost tolerant.

The Large-fruited Mallee is grown for its flowers and upright habit. It is planted in small or arid gardens as a specimen tree or grown in botanical collections. It is suitable for inland regions and establishes in 3-4 years.

It is regarded as one of the most beautiful eucalypt flowers and is used in floral arrangements. The unusually large ribbed fruit is collected for decorations. The tree may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery and in humid eastern states its growth may be unreliable. ID 3318
