This small perennial shrub has slender spreading woolly stems that form an open decumbent to ascending habit. It has silvery grey elliptical leaves and the spreading blue tube-shaped flowers appear prolifically over the plant from winter to spring.

Dampiera altissimais naturally found in Western Australia from the Avon wheatbelt to the Geraldton Hills, appearing on the coast and inland on rocky hillsides and sandstone cliffs.
It prefers an open sunny to partially shaded position and grows in very well drained poor to moderately fertile sandy stony to rocky loam with a pH range from 6.5 to 8.5 and is drought tolerant but frost tender.
Tall Dampiera is grown for its spreading habit and blue flowers. It is planted in cottage or Mediterranean gardens along front borders or in a sunny rockery as a spill-over. It is also used in patio pots and planter boxes or grown in rock crevices. It is suitable for coastal and inland regions and establishes in 1-2 years but may be short lived.
