This medium sized tree has a solitary greyish fissured trunk with spreading branches that form a rounded to conical crown. It has dull dark green lobed leaves and the large pink bell-shaped flowers appear in a dense cluster from early to mid summer.

Brachychiton discoloris naturally found in Australia from south-eastern Queensland to north-eastern New South Wales growing along the coast in a dry or occasionally wet rainforest from sea level to an altitude of 548 m (1,798 ft).
It prefers a sunny to partially shaded protected position and grows in deep organic rich moist sandy to clay loams that are tending acidic with a pH 6-7.5 and is drought and mildly frost tolerant.
