This shrub to small tree has a twisted creamy-brown trunk and spreading branches that form a bushy habit. It has large oblong, grey green leaves and the fragrant saucer-shaped white flowers appear from spring to summer and are followed by berries.

Psidium guineenseis naturally found through out tropical America growing in low land forests along water course margins and in cleared areas. It prefers a sunny to semi shaded position and grows in well drained moderately fertile moist clay loams and is drought tolerant but frost tender.

Brazilian Guava is grown for is habit and the fruit. It is planted in tropical gardens or in botanical collections as a specimen. It is suitable for coastal regions and establishes in 3-5 years. It is not commonly cultivated in domestic gardens and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery. ID 3277
