This small deciduous suckering tree has a darkish trunk with numerous weeping tan-brown branches that form a pendulous habit. It has dark green oblong toothed leaves and at the large greenish white male flowers appears from winter to early spring.

Salix capreaandis naturally found from Europe to western Asia, growing in marshlands in moist to wet or well drained, organic rich soils that are tending acidic. It prefers an open sunny position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.

The Goat Willow is grown for its weeping habit and is planted in parks and large gardens as a specimen. It is also planted around water features or in boggy positions and establishes in 3 to 4 years. This small tree is suitable for coastal or inland regions and tolerating a wide climatic range. ID 3226
