This large shrub has a short smooth spiny trunk with spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has large dark glossy green lobed leaves and the white cup-shaped flowers appear in a branched cluster during spring.

It prefers a well drained organic rich moist soil that is tending acidic and grows in a humid semi-shaded to sunny wind protected position and is drought and frost tender.
The Snowflake Aralia is grown for its unusual foliage and tis rounded crown. It is planted in large or botanic gardens as a specimen or is used in the understory of tropical gardens.
It is also planted along water courses or around water features for a tropical effect. It is suitable for coastal and low-mountain regions establishing in 3-4 years.
