This large shrub to small narrow tree has ascending silky branches that form an open habit. It has variable narrow silver-green leaves and the yellow or orange tube-shape flowers appear in a terminal raceme from a winter to early spring.

Grevillea refractais naturally found from Queensland to the Northern Territory, including the islands of the Gulf of Carpentaria to the Kimberley's in Western Australia appearing in a wide range of habitats that include sandstone ridges, tall shrubland, open desert or along creek embankments.

It prefers an open to wind protected sunny position and grows in well drained red sand to gravelly sandy loam or clay that is moist and moderately fertile. it is drought tolerant but frost tender and prefers a hot wet summer and a dry warm winter and regenerate from seed after low intensity fire.

The Silver-leaf Grevillea is grown fruits attractive foliage and long-lasting flowers. It is planted in arid or tropical gardens as a feature specimen to attract birds or used in a bushland setting. It is suitable coastal and inland regions and establishes in 2-3 years and is moderately long lived. ID 3179
