This shrub to small tree is a smooth greyish trunk with slender spreading branches that form an open crown. It has grey green stiff leathery spoon shaped leaves and the red to yellow tube-shaped flowers appear in a nodding raceme from winter to spring.

Grevillea wickhamiiis naturally found from northern Western Australia to the Northern Territory, Queensland and South Australia growing in shrub land or amongst tall or low trees (savannah woodland) along the ridges and on the planes.

It prefers an open to exposed sunny position and grows in very well drained, poor sandy-stony to gravelly soil or in clay that is tending acidic. It is a drought and high temperature tolerant but frost tender.

Wickham's Grevillea is grown for its attractive flowers and its hardiness. The species is not commonly cultivated but are suitable for small or tropical gardens as a specimen. It can also be planted in bush regeneration programmes and when young it can be grown in tubs and planter boxes.

It is suitable for coastal and inland regions and establishes in 3-4 years and is moderately long-lived. This plant may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery. There are several subspecies that are commonly cultivated and are use in tropical to subtropical and warm temperate regions. ID 3173
