This coniferous tree has upright greyish trunk with whorled branches forming a pyramidal habit. It has mid-green diamond shaped leaf-like segments that are lobed and the male and female flowers appear during spring, followed by cones.

The Celery-leaved Pine is grown for its foliage and habit. It is planted as a lawn specimen tree in parks and gardens or used along garden borders for screening. It establishes in 4 to 6 years and is long lived. This tree is suitable for protected coastal positions and low mountain regions and will tolerate dry conditions.
