This bulbous perennial has a stem that is mainly underground, up to 50 mm (2in) long and forms a clump. It has narrow mid green lance-shaped leaves and the yellow star-shaped flowers appear singularly above the foliage in early spring.

This Tulip is grown for its flowers and clumping habit. It is planted in small or cottage gardens along herbaceous borders or used in rockeries as a specimen. It is suitable for cool inland regions and establishes in 3 to 5 years and is long lived. It is also grown in patio pots and the flowers are used in floral arrangements.
