This deciduous shrub to small tree as a solitary or multiple upright stems with spreading twiggy branches forming a rounded bushy habit. It has dark green ovate leaves that turn reddish during autumn and the small white flowers appear in early spring.

The Fuji Cherry is grown for its flowers and shrubby habit. It is planted in small gardens along borders for screening or for autumn colour contrast and may be grown in large patio pots or planter boxes. It is suitable for coastal or low mountain regions establishing in 3 to 4 years and is long lived.
