This miniature rhizomatous perennial has rosettes of foliage and forms a spreading clump. It has semi-evergreen dark green rounded leaves and the purplish saucer-shape flowers appear solitary above the foliage from spring to summer.

Primula juliaeis naturally found in the eastern Caucasus growing in the rocky mountain forests floor. It prefers a well drained organic rich moist gravelly soil in an open sunny position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
