This dwarf suckering shrub has upright cane-like stems that form a bushy habit. It has divided leaves with glossy dark green toothed leaflets and the small, bright yellow cup-shape flowers appear in a long flower head that appears from spring to summer.

Mahonia nervosais naturally found in Western North America from British Columbia to California and extending to Idaho growing in woodlands.
It prefers a well drained moderately fertile soil that is tending acidic and grows in a semi-shaded to full sun, wind protected position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
Cascades Mahonia is grown for its flowers and dwarf habit. It is planted in parks and gardens along shaded borders or grown as a specimen. It is suitable for coastal or low-mountain regions establishing from division in one season.
