This herbaceous perennial has truncated bulbs with upright foliage and forms a clump. It has a narrow, dark green pointed leaves and the star-shaped blue-white flowers appear in clusters above the foliage during early spring.

Chionodoxa luciliaeis naturally found from western Turkey and extending throughout Asia Minor growing on mountain sides and in the forest on the valley floors.

It tolerates most well drained fertile moist soils and prefers an open sunny position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.

The Glory of the Snow is grown for its flowers and clumping habit. It is planted in raised garden beds along borders or in rockeries as a specimen. It is suitable for inland or coastal regions establishing from division in 2 to 3 years and is moderately long lived.
