This shrub to small tree has a short trunk with greenish-white bark and spreading pubescent branches that form a rounded crown. It has glossy dark green oblong leaves and the small white tube-shaped flowers appear in clusters in late spring.

It prefers an open sunny to semi shaded position and grows in a most well drained moderately fertile soil and is drought tolerant but frost tender.
The Taiwanese Cheesewood is grown for its habit, foliage and flowers. It is planted in parks and gardens along borders for screening or used as a specimen. It is suitable for coastal or low mountain regions, establishing in 3-4 years and is moderately long lived. It is also useful as a courtyard shade tree or for attracting birds. ID 3017
