This small shrub has upright slender stems that form an open bushy habit. It has divided leaves with 3-flat mid-green leaflets and the large bright yellow pea-shaped flowers appear singularly or in a small cluster during spring.

The Broad Wedge-pea is grown for its large flowers and is planted in small gardens along borders for colour or in commercial sites and on embankments in bushland settings. It is suitable for coastal or adjoining mountain regions establishing in 2 to 3 years. It is also planted in rockeries or on roof gardens and may require a light prune to maintain a shrubby habit.
