This medium-size to large tree has an upright trunk with shallow fissured greyish bark and spreading branches that forma dense rounded crown. It has glossy green divided leaves and the small saucer-shaped flowers appear in clusters in early summer.

Flindersia brayleyanais naturally found in Australia in northern Queensland growing from Townsville to Windsor Tablelands. It appears in rainforest from sea level to an altitude of 1200m (3,600ft).

It grows in well drained basalt based (heavy) deep moist loams but will tolerate a wide range of soils in an open sunny to protected position and is frost, wind and drought tender.

The Queensland Maple is grown for its habit and its floral display. It is planted in parks and large gardens as a lawn specimen for shade or used in a rainforest setting.
