This monocarpic palm has multiple green-brown ringed trunks in varying heights and has up to 12-dark green divided fronds that form a spreading crown. The small yellow cup-shaped flowers appear in a pendant cluster in spring followed by purple fruit.

Arenga australasicais naturally found from the Torres Strait Islands to northern Australia growing in lowland rainforests in deep well drained but moist organic rich soils. When young it prefers a semi-shaded position and tolerates full sun when mature and is drought and frost tender.
The Australian Arenga Palm is grown for its clumping habit and is planted in large gardens or parks as a lawn specimen or used in borders for screening. It is suitable for coastal regions and establishes in 5 to 7 years. It can also be grown in large a conservatory in cool climates.ID 3000
