This solitary fan palm has a slender ringed bronze-coloured trunk up to 300mm (1ft) in diameter and a rounded crown. It has large semi-circular pleated dark green fronds and the small yellow bisexual flowers appear in clusters amongst the foliage.

Pritchardia pacificais naturally found in the Tonga islands but is naturalised in Fiji and other islands in the Pacific Ocean growing on the coast. It tolerates most well drained volcanic soils including saline conditions in a sunny or semi shaded position. It requires a high rainfall with protection from drying winds and is drought and frost tender.
The Fiji Fan Palm is grown for its foliage and tropical appearance. It is planted along the coast in parks and gardens in groups or singularly. It is also planted as a specimen against tall buildings or around lagoons, establishing in 3 to 5 years. It is only suitable for tropical and sub tropical regions. ID 2995
Note:
The trunk has closely set rings with the upper part covered in a mat of brown fibres and the dense crown has up to 40 fronds.
