Melaleuca leucadendrais naturally found from northern Australia to Papua New Guinea, Irian Jaya and Malaysia. It grows along water courses in swampy ground or around lagoons in monsoonal forest or rainforests, on the coast and in inland.
It prefers a dry to wet fertile well drained sandy soil and tolerates inundation and in an open sunny position and is drought tolerant but heavy frost tender.
The Weeping Paperbark is grown for its habit and it flowers. It is planted in parks and gardens as a specimen or around a water feature for attracting birds. It establishes in 3 to 5 years and is suitable for coastal and inland tropical regions. The timber is used for posts or in light construction and the local Aboriginals have many uses for the bark, flowers and leaves. ID 2989
Note:
There are two forms available one with narrow leaves and one with broad leaves both tolerate simular conditions.
