This perennial has short fleshy stems that form an upright rosette with dark green heart-shaped leaves with silvery markings. The flowers appear in a slender cylindrical greenish spike that is held above the foliage during spring.

Peperomia argyreiais naturally found in South America growing in northern Brazil on the floor of tropical forest clearings in organic rich moist well drained soil. It requires a humid, semi-shaded position with wind, frost and drought protection and tolerates high temperatures.

The Watermelon Peperomia is grown for its foliage and is planted in small gardens along low borders or in shaded rockeries and as a shade house potted specimen.
