This epiphytic or terrestrial shrub has multiple woody stems with spreading branches that forms a bushy rounded habit. It has puckered mid-green oblong leaves and the small pale pink cup-shaped flowers appear in a pendant conical cluster in spring.

Medinilla cummingiiis naturally found in the Philippines growing in the understory of moist mossy forests or as a epiphyte on rainforest trees in the lower mountains from an altitude of 700 m (2,296 ft) to 1,000 m (3,280 ft).
It prefers a semi-shaded to dappled lightwind protected humid position and it grows in well drained organic rich moist sandy loam or composted leaf mould that is tending acidic. It is drought and frost tender and needs protection from direct sun.
The Chandelier Tree is grown for its attractive flowers, lush foliage and rounded bushy habit. It is planted as a specimen in a tropical setting or use in the understory as a filler. It is also planted around water features or used in gullies and can be grown in pots or tubs.
It is suitable to protect coastal and low mountain regions and establishes in 2-3 years and is moderately long lived. In coal regions it is grown in a conservatory or glasshouse as a specimen requiring ample light and humidity. ID 2955
