This shrub has upright woody branches that form a rounded bushy habit. It has dark green elliptical leathery leaves and the fragrant spreading trumpet-shaped white solitary flowers appear from spring to summer.

Brunfelsia lacteais naturally found in South America growing in Puerto Rico in woodlands and in coastal scrub. It prefers a well drained fertile soil that is tending alkaline in a wind protected sunny position and is drought tolerant but frost tender.

Brunfelsia is grown for its scented flowers and for its bushy habit. It is planted in tropical gardens along borders and can be trimmed to form a hedge. It is also grown in patio pots and under glass in cold climates. It establishes in 3 to 5 years and is suitable for coastal regions. This species may be difficult to obtain. ID 2939
