It prefers a well drained moderately fertile soil and tolerates saline winds in an open sunny position and is drought tolerant (xerophyte) but is cold and frost sensitive.

The Pacific Almond is grown for its habit and its saline tolerance. It is planted in coastal tropical gardens or parks and along beach fronts for shade. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and is suitable for inland regions. It is commonly cultivated in the pacific islands as a wind break and is used for a tropical effect around a water feature. Under cultivation it is smaller only growing to a height of 12m (36ft). ID 2922
