This erect shrub has many spreading woody spiny branches that form a compact rounded bushy habit. It has stiff mid-green holly-like leaves and the small red tube-shaped flowers appear in clusters from spring to early summer.

It prefers a shaded to sunny position and grows in most well drained organic rich moist soils that are tending acidic and is frost and drought tender.
Holly Fuchsia is grown for its bushy habit and its flowers and is planted in parks and gardens along borders as a hedge or as a pedestrian barrier with its armed leaves. It establishes 4 to 6 years and is suitable for coastal and the adjoining hillside regions. It can also be grown in patio tubs but may be difficult to obtain.ID 2913
