This shrub to scrambling climber has a sprawling habit with woody stems that have spines. It has leathery glossy dark green rounded leaves and the white spreading tube-shaped fragrant flowers appear in clusters during spring.

Carissa ovatais naturally found in Australia from Lismore in New South Wales to northern Queensland growing in sub-tropical or dry rainforest on the coast and inland.
It tolerates most well drained moderately fertile moist soils in an open sunny position. It is frost sensitive but mildly drought tolerant.
The Current Bush is grown for its spreading habit and its fragrant flowers. It is planted in small gardens or rockeries along borders or used as a pedestrian barrier. It establishes in 3 to 4 years and is suitable for costal regions. It is also planted in sub-tropical or fragrant gardens and on embankments.ID 2908
