This upright shrub has many dark brown branches that form a narrow habit. It has dull green lanced-shaped leaves and the tiny bright yellow star-shaped flowers appear in clusters during early summer and are followed by dark red berry-like fruit.

Corokia buddlejoidesis naturally found in New Zealand growing from Mangonui to Rotorrua and extending to the East Cape on the North Island, appearing along forest margins on the coastal lowlands.
It prefers a protected sunny to semi shaded position on well drained fertile moist soil but will tolerate dry conditions and is frost tender.
Korokio is grown for its bushy habit and its flowers. It is planted in small gardens along borders or can be trimmed to form a hedge. It is also used in coastal positions or used as an under trees as a filler plant. It establishes in 3 to 4 years preferring a protected position.ID 2855
