Coprosma rhamnoidesis naturally found throughout the North and South Islands of New Zealand growing from the coastal lowlands scrub to low montane forests in exposed positions.
It prefers an open sunny to semi shaded position and grow in most well drained moderately fertile soils but dislikes wet conditions and is drought, frost and salt-laden wind tolerant.
The Twiggy Coprosma is grown for its hardiness and its rounded habit. It is planted in coastal gardens or in exposed rockeries as a specimen. It is also suitable for patio pots and may be trimmed to form a low hedge or used for topiary. It establishes in 3 to 5 years and tolerates a wide range of conditions. It is useful in a hot dry position and is tolerant of saline conditions. ID 2843
Note:
The habit of the plant is variable depending on its environment. In an open exposed coastal position the shrub is stunted and may be wind pruned into unusual shapes.
