This upright tree has a smooth tapering trunk with reddish bark and spreading branches that form a compact domed crown. It has bright green pointed lobed leaves and the small pinkish bell-shaped flowers appear in clusters during summer.

It prefers an open sunny position and grows in well drained moderately fertile sandy-stony soils and is drought and moderately frost resistant.
The Desert Kurrajong is grown for its spreading habit and is planted in parks and gardens as a lawn specimen or is used in arid gardens as a feature or shade tree. It is suitable for inland regions tolerating high temperatures and establishes in 3 to 5 years. ID 2823
